Rules and regulations
Article 1: Who is the prize for?
The prize is accessible to any boat participating in the Yachts de tradition events

Article 1 bis: invitation to participate in the Prize
Each boat registered to participate in the selected events is automatically registered in the Prix du Yacht de Tradition de L’Année. A boat may decline participation in the event via written notification. The organising committee reserves the right to accept or decline registration without providing justification. Any elected Yacht de tradition boat, cannot participate in subsequent editions.

Article 2: The jury
For each gathering, a jury will be selected by the representative of the event Committee, subject to approval by the president of the national jury, which will include: a representative of Série Limitée (Benoit Godeau or François Le Brun) and two members of the national jury (minimum) who will be jury members of the events.
- Article 2 bis: National Jury
A permanent grand national jury will oversee the local juries constituted for each gathering.
The vocation of the grand jury, made up of highly reputable figures in the world of boating and classic yachting in particular, will be to ensure that the spirit of tradition and elegance is upheld during the entire circuit. The jury will be divided into three colleges: the college of regatta organisers, the college of aesthetic criteria, the college of qualified personalities.
The committee members of the regattas will not participate in the vote. Their role will be to present the boats nominated at event level.
The Grand jury will elect the « Yacht de Tradition de l’Année », from all 18 boats nominated by the juries set up during the events. A boat will be nominated in the three size categories: under 12 metres, 12 to 18 metres and over 18 metres. The « Yacht de Tradition de l’Année » will be selected from the three boats nominated.
If a member of the national jury owns the boat being judged, under no circumstances can they participate in the judging process.
The president of the the jury will be appointed by the event Committee (Les Echos médias). Appointment will be for one year, representing alternatively from year to year, the Atlantic coast and the Mediterranean coast.

Article 3: Pre-selection of boats at each event
Nine boats will be pre-selected during each event. It will be the jury’s responsibility to assign three boats to three categories of sailing boats: under to 12 metres (49,2’), 12 to 18 metres (82’) and over 18 metres.*

Article 4: Allocation of points
1) - Quality of maintenance of the boat (coefficient 2).
Coherence of restoration
Structural maintenance (hull, cordage)
Aesthetic aspect (paintwork, varnish, deck)
2)- Naval ethics (coefficient 2)
3)- Shipowner and Team (coefficient 1).
Ability to provide history of the boat
Intensity of navigation (coastal and regattas, semi-deep-sea, deep-sea)
Team conviviality and hospitality on board
The 10 criteria will be graded from 0 (mediocre) to 1 (good) or 2 (excellent), in other words, an overall mark out of 22
Article 4 bis : Decider
In the event of a draw between two boats after judging, the President of the jury (local or national) has sole power to decide on the winner.

Article 5 : présélectionnés par épreuve
At each event**, the three boats coming « first » in the three categories will be nominated for the « Prix du Yacht de Tradition de l’Année ». A boat nominated by the jury of an event, cannot be re-named by the jury of another event. The said boat in this instance will be « hors-concours » (excluded).
The jury will award the Prix du Yacht de tradition for the event to one of the three boats nominated.

The names of the boats are to be provided to the National Jury and Benoit Godeau (Dir of Events & Partnerships at Les Echos Médias) by email in the course of the season.
The definitive list will be drawn up after the final event for 2011, Les Voiles de Saint Tropez.
Article 6 :Trophy & Prizes
At each event, the winning Yacht de Tradition of the said event will receive a Trophy.
On the occasion of the AFYT Prize award ceremony at the Porte de Versailles Nautical Show on Friday 2 December 2011, in each category (under 12 metres, 12 to 18 metres and 18 metres and over), the winners will be awarded a trophy
The winner of the Yacht de tradition de l’Année, will receive the Challenge du Prix du Yacht de tradition de l’Année, a special Trophy. The trophy will be on show at the Yacht Club of the winning boat for a year and released for competition the following year.
The owner will be awarded a commemorative plaque for the winning boat
Article 6 bis: Sponsor of the Prix du Yacht de Tradition de l’Année & Personalities
The Prix du Yacht de Tradition de l’Année will be announced and awarded by Marie TABARLY, the Prize Sponsor. The winners of the different categories will receive their prizes from various personalities selected by the organisers.
Article 7:
A « flag » of the year’s winner will be given to the owner of the winning boat at the beginning of the season.
The winning boat will be authorised to display it to mark winning the 2011 Prize throughout the 2011 season.
